At ECS, we’re looking for a driven Rail Planner who thrives on structure, efficient solutions, and international collaboration. Are you a natural organizer with a passion for logistics and a knack for European geography? Then you might be the perfect match for our team!
Your role & responsibilities
• You’re a born planner, making it easy for you to put together the most suitable combinations and routes for rail transport assignments. You always aim for an optimal balance between intermodal and road transport.
• A well-organized person is worth double – you love being well-prepared and enjoy creating a thoughtful pre-planning.
• You’re a problem-solver at heart, quickly coming up with creative and effective solutions.
• Communication is key, especially in rail planning. You feel comfortable interacting with various parties such as rail operators, terminals, and internal departments.
• You have an eye for detail: accurate and timely data entry in our software system is also part of your responsibilities.
In concrete terms, this means:
o Organizing international rail transports: you book freight wagons on various European rail connections and ensure all transport data is correctly processed after departure.
o Collaborating with logistics partners: you stay in contact with rail carriers regarding performance, monitor any additional costs, and handle deviations or service issues.
Working hours
• You’ll work in a rotating shift system (8 AM – 4 PM, 9 AM – 5 PM, 10 AM – 6 PM).
• Evening and weekend on-call duty from home, alternating with 2 colleagues (every 3 weeks).

Profile
Who are you?
You posses the following qualities:
• You have a bachelor’s degree or relevant work experience.
• You’re proficient with the MS Office suite.
• You’re fluent in Dutch and English, with a basic knowledge of French.
• You’re a true team player.
• You have a healthy dose of assertiveness and can set the right priorities.
• You have solid geographical knowledge of Europe.
• Experience in the transport sector is a plus, but not a must.
