At ECS, sustainability is part of our DNA. Our 2025 Sustainability Report outlines the tangible steps we’ve taken to reduce our environmental footprint, create a safe and inclusive workplace, and prepare our supply chain for the future.
Reducing emissions at scale
We continued our ambitious modal shift strategy in 2024, transporting over 73 million kilometres by rail and reducing the number of trucks on the road. Our target? 100 million rail kilometres by 2030. We also invested in 235 Huckepack trailers and expanded our rail network into Eastern Europe, making greener logistics accessible for more customers.
Greener energy, smarter operations
We now generate 14% of our Belgian electricity through solar power, thanks to an expanded array of over 1.000 panels. On the road, we’re scaling up use of HVO100 renewable fuel, installing our own HVO tank, and rolling out electric vehicles for both company and subcontractor fleets. Our reefer trailers and warehouses also use more efficient, lower-impact cooling technology.
Safety, wellbeing & culture
Safety is non-negotiable. In 2024, we enhanced our internal risk and safety frameworks, provided hands-on training, and empowered team leaders with clearer roles in creating a secure work environment. Our 3C leadership model - Connect, Challenge, Care - continues to shape our culture and help us grow as one team.
Governance & standards
In 2024, we extended our ISO9001 and ISO14001 certifications to all business units, aligning quality and environmental standards across ECS. We also developed a thorough double materiality assessment and mapped ESG risks and opportunities across our value chain. As part of this effort, we strengthened dialogue with key stakeholders, including suppliers, employees, and customers.
